STEP 1.
Let's begin by making two shapes, both of them will be for the heads
and faces for these two wolf pups. Sketch in the facial guidelines, then
move to step two.

STEP 2.
Here you will begin sketching out the actual shape of the wolf pup's head which should include the ears and fluffy cheeks.

STEP 3.
Next, draw the large eyes, then draw in the snout, nose and mouth or
smile. As you can see these wolves are going to be friendly.

STEP 4.
Next up, you will draw the top part of the other wolf pup's head, then
draw in the eyes, snout, mouth and fluffy cheek. Notice how this pup is
not smiling as big as his/her brother.

STEP 5.
You will now color in the pupils as well as draw out the eyeballs.
Next, sketch in some detailing inside of the ears, then draw in the
noses to detail. Add some definition to the wolves coats too.

STEP 6.
Here you will begin drawing out the wolf pup's body to the right. This
will or should be drawn in a side view manner. Draw the lining of the
back, then draw in the hind leg, back paw and front legs and one paw.
Also sketch in some fluff on the back side and chest.

STEP 7.
Draw the tail as well as the other paw. When that is done you can draw
out the entire body for the wolf pup that is laying on the floor. Make
sure that you detail the body with some fluffy hair from the coat.
Remember, wolves have extremely heavy coats. Erase the mistakes if you
made any, then you are done.

STEP 8.
Now you can start coloring in your two wolf puppies that you see here. I hope you enjoyed this lesson on drawing wolf puppies.
STEP 1.
First draw out the basic shapes and outlines of the Protoss. Use
several reference images to get the form and pose that you would like
your drawing to have. Do not worry about any details and specifics at
this point. Only concentrate in getting the flow of the body, arms and
legs.

STEP 2.
As you can see, the lines are very quick and quite messy, but they are
very light and will be worked over later. Remember not to push hard with
your pencil, and I would suggest not using as sharp one. Don’t rub
these lines out yet, they are construction lines and they help to draw
the final lines.

STEP 3.
Now you can start to draw in the main lines. These can be a lot darker
than the construction lines, which you work over. When drawing long
flowing lines for the legs and shoulder pieces, try to draw out the line
in one smooth go. A handy tip would be to rotate your page for some of
these to help you get the angles right. Don’t be afraid to turn the page
upside down in you have to while you draw! The red shows some help for
drawing the shoulder arches, and also the flowing lines of the legs and
sides.

STEP 4.
Once you have all the lines you would like, you can begin shading in
your Protoss. Start by finding the darkest areas and use a dark pencil
like a 5B to shade them in. Don’t be afraid to make black areas in
places, this will help make your drawing have more depth, and it really
helps it to pop off the page, almost like 3D. The red circles show some
of the darkest areas. I have added in the long flowing Predator like
hair that the Protoss have. You can position this how you would like,
either blowing in the wind, or completely hidden if you wish.

STEP 5.
Tip: Here is a tip on shading. The way I used to shade was to just
smudge everything with my fingers. While this is perfectly fine, as
long as you are careful not to get finger prints all over the page, I
was advised on a much better way. In this close up, you can see how the
two sides are quite different. Both were shaded with a 3B pencil, but
the right side has been smoothed with tortillion. You can use some
tissue paper to get the same effect if you don’t have tortillion. Use
this only if you want to show a smooth material, like this shiny armour.
If it’s a rough material like bark, its texture is best left
unsmoothed. So for this drawing, I made the armour very smooth, but the
feet I left quite rough, showing that they have a rugged texture. It can
help to have a combination of these in your drawings.

STEP 6.
Continue to shade in all the areas of your drawing. Make the parts
hidden from direct light dark, and remember to blend the dark shades to
the lighter areas, especially for rounded shapes. When you are shading,
some of the solid lines you had drawn may fade, just use a sharp dark
pencil to go over them again, re defining them. Also add in some
highlights/shines in certain places by using an eraser.

STEP 7.
Here is a close up of the weapons. I did this by drawing a few single
wavy lines, like fire, around the edge of where I wanted the weapon. I
then shaded the out side edge of each of them, and blended them
outwards. This gives the effect of light being given off.

STEP 8.
And you’re done! Remember to spend as much time as you want on your
drawing. Also, you don’t have to make it an exact replica of the race in
the game, you can change and modify things to make it more personal.
Don’t forget to add in a shadow and sign and date your work!
